My Approach

I use a person-centered and integrated approach specialized to your unique needs. I partner with you through the therapeutic process, be your guide, mirror and encouragement. I see individual adults and I see couples. For individuals I specialize in exposure based therapy methods to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. For couples I practice Gottman Method Therapy where we amplify positive interactions in your relationship, learn about more effective communication tools during conflict and learn how to have more positive engagements during a conflict.

Why Therapy?

Trauma, anxiety and our baggage can creep into our lives and hide in many ways such as loss of connection in relationships, getting stuck by negative thoughts about yourself and the world and sometimes manifests as physical symptoms like stomach aches, sleep disturbance or headaches and so much more. Consistent practice of therapeutic skills and the therapeutic relationship can help identify, understand and tackle these challenges to help you take your life back. You don’t have to feel this way forever, there are other options.

About my Background and Experience

In 2012 I started my career in the NYC Shelter System, this was profound experience, I learned a lot during my 6 years with the shelter and still feel a strong tie to the homeless community. During my time in the shelter I gained a lot of experience and working with people with trauma connected with me most. I wanted to continue work with trauma in a deeper more impactful way.

In 2018 I transitioned into private practice and began training in prolonged exposure therapy at UPenn, a gold standard treatment for PTSD symptoms. I now specialize in exposure therapy for adults with trauma, anxiety disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder. I tend to work with smart, creative and excellent driven adults. I love to see the transformation from avoiding the world to actually living in the world. Seeing the distress melt down and the feeling of empowerment grow, still touches me every time.

It’s important to me to show up 100% for my clients and offer quality care. I invest in professional training and consultation to gain perspective, growth and to learn in this specialty. I am also in the process of getting trained and certified in the Gottman Method to provide couples therapy.

In 2010 I earned my B.S. in Psychology from the College of Charleston.

In 2015 I earned my certificate of training in Buried in Treasures: Help for Compulsive Acquiring, Saving, and Hoarding from Dr. David Tolin, Dr. Rand Frost and Dr. Gail Steketee

In 2016 I earned my Masters of Social Work from Hunter College: Silberman School of Social Work
